Our Mission

The Shared Ministry strives to be a center of hope in the Allison Hill Community. We provide assistance of many kinds to the community, from spiritual, to educational, to basic needs.

About The Shared Ministry

     The two congregations that joined to form The Shared Ministry in 1979, have served the Allison Hill neighborhood for over 100 years. The Shared Ministry is a unique blend of Methodist and United Church of Christ traditions.

     We are a diverse, inner-city church that welcomes everyone. You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings. Services on Sunday begin at 10:30 AM but you might want to stop by earlier for Sunday School at 9:00 AM or to share coffee and conversation with our members during Fabulous Fellowship at 10:00 AM.

Our Needs

Ties that Binds needs partners. Individuals, churches, church groups, community organizations and businesses are welcome to join with us in our ministry of service. We need your prayers. We need dedicated volunteers, in-kind donations of goods and services as well as financial support. We need the vision and the resources that we know are available in the wider Harrisburg community. Ties That Bind

Our Goal The Shared Ministry strives to be a center of hope in the Allison Hill Community. We provide assistance of many kinds to the community, from spiritual, to educational, to basic needs.

The Shared Ministry has been a place of refuge as well as a resource center for those in need in Allison Hill for many years. Recently we have felt a call to grow our ministry of service. We feel that the best way to achieve this goal is to build a network of supporters in ministry.

If you join with us, you will see that the needs are very great in our neighborhood, but so are the rewards!

Current Services

After-School Tutoring Program
The tutoring program, staffed by volunteers meets every Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM
One-to-One tutoring for about 25 children Educational games, guidance and mentoring Spiritual life lessons A healthy dinner and conversation.

Community Hours

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM we open our doors and provide:
Services for over 400 people monthly.

Free clothing, food vouchers and referrals for other services. Spiritual support from Pastor Mike and resources for those seeking guidance.

Summer Day Camp
For one week in the summer we offer daily trips out of the city that provide:

An assortment of activities, from art projects to Bible lessons, in a safe environment.

A completely free of charge camp for the children of the Allison Hill neighborhood.
