Needs
- We
are in need of volunteers for our growing after-school program. We are
looking for volunteer tutors and cooks at this time. In the summer,
we will also need volunteers to help teach and organize the summer camps
as well as more cooking volunteers.
- We
are currently working on a plan to provide a free library for the Allison
Hill community. In a recent study by the Pennsylvania
Department of Education, we learned that the average home in Pennsylvania
has less than 1 book. This includes the Bible and the Telephone Directory.
If our plans go through for this program, we would need volunteers to
help us oversee this program as well as large donations of books.
This program would be especially useful for our community as there is
not a neighborhood library in the area that is easily accessible.
- Clothing
is another desperate need for us. We have enjoyed such success with
our Community Hours Program that we are now extremely low on clothing.
Please encourage people to dig into their wardrobes and donate gently
used clothing for this Shared Ministry program.
- Educational
supplies and donations of craft supplies are also welcomed. We are always
looking for supplements to our educational library which we use for
our tutoring program. Educational supplies could include children's
books, educational games, flash cards, etc. We are also always in need
of craft supplies, such as drawing paper, crayons, markers, pencils,
bright paper, and all the basics.
