The Shared Ministry's Outreach Programs and Ties That Bind

For over 100 years, the two congregations that joined to form the Shared Ministry have served the Allison Hill neighborhood. Blending together Methodist and United Church of Christ traditions, the Shared Ministry is more than a church; it is a community sanctuary that welcomes everyone. We provide clothing and vouchers (for food and household items) to more than 400 people every month. Every Wednesday evening we open our doors to about 25 neighborhood children who need homework assistance, a friend to talk to, or a hot meal. We work hard to serve our community, but we still feel we could be doing much more. This is one reason why we have started the Ties That Bind program.

Ties That Bind is a community program that seeks to build a network of supporters to join us in our ministry to the Allison Hill neighborhood. We need partners to provide support for new programming at the Shared Ministry. Support in the form of your time, in-kind donations of goods and expertise, and monetary donations are all very welcome. We have many plans to improve our services and we would like to tell you all about them.

Representatives of the Shared Ministry have volunteered their time to come and speak with your organization about our Ties That Bind community program. We will tell you more about our programs and explain how you can help us make a difference in our Allison Hill neighborhood. Please take some time to review our informational brochure and current needs list. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help the Shared Ministry or if you would like to become a supporter of Ties That Bind, contact us at (717) 232-0877.
