Worship at The Shared Ministry follows the seasons of the Church Year:
Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. The general
format of worship is Gathering to Worship God, Attending to God’s Word,
Responding to God’s Word, and Going in God’s Name. Worship leadership is
provided by both the Pastor and lay persons. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is
included in worship on the first Sunday of each month. Congregational
participation occurs through hymns, prayers, the passing of the peace, etc.
Children and music (piano, organ, hymns and choir anthems) are integral
parts of the worship experience; there is usually a ‘Children’s Sermon’ in
each Service of Worship. The word ‘worship’ derives from 'worth-ship'
meaning to give something or someone its due worth. For Christians, worship
is at the heart of our life as a faith community. Through worship we give honor and praise
to God, and are drawn into the mystery of God and into a deeper
relationship with God. As we are touched by this transforming love of God,
we are then sent back out into the world with renewed meaning and clarity
of identity and purpose.
